Tutorial: Altering Belt Buckles on Children's Clothing
We received these cargo shorts as a gift for lil man. I like the shorts, but I didn't like the original buckle D-ring on the attached belt. Anyone that's ever changed a diaper should know this D-ring closure is not for children's clothing. It's too much of a hassle when your baby is wiggly and trying to run away during diaper changes. So, I made an alteration to the belt.
Before
After
This alteration is simple and easy. Here's what you need:
- Velcro
- Seam ripper
- Sewing machine or needle/thread
- Scissors
- Use the seam ripper to remove the seams from around the d-ring
- Use the scissors to trim the velcro to the desired length
- Sew the velcro to the belt either using the sewing machine or do it manually with needle/thread if you don't have a sewing machine
And that's it!
Happy altering. ^_^
