I keep buying new fabric, but after I’m done with projects I end up with a lot of pieces that are too big to throw away, but not large enough to make a complete item. So, in an effort to clean out my fabric stash, I’m trying to make a bunch of baby blankets and burp cloths using remnants. And my goal this year is to NOT be a fabric hoarder… to use up every scrap I have in the studio for something.
This weekend, I took out these two fabrics:
A lot of different sizes and the blue squares were from a quilt I made for the Etsy shop. With all these pieces, I was trying to put together another baby blanket so I started laying things out and came up with this:
Some of the blue pieces were a bit smaller than the yellows, so to make the rows even for sewing I trimmed the yellow pieces a little bit to square everything out.
After some fabric prepping (ironing, more trimming, serging) & sewing, here’s my end result:
Looks a bit different from this side angle, but I think I like it. Thoughts?
I still have some remaining fabric even after this blanket…. may be I have enough to make a burp cloth. I’ll have to give it a try.
In the meantime, this blanket is off to get packaged, gift wrapped & shipped.
